Skin tag removal is one of the shortest procedures I perform. Most patients leave within 20 minutes with every tag removed, no stitches, and no visible trace by the following week. This page sets out the skin tag removal price in Singapore at my practice, what happens on the day, which method suits which tag and how the skin heals.
What a skin tag is and why it grew is covered in my skin tag removal review. Tags on the neck, face, armpit and eyelid are covered site by site on the skin tags by body site page.

The consultation fee is quoted at booking. A growth that proves to be a mole rather than a tag is priced as mole removal, set out on my mole removal page, and any specimen sent to the laboratory carries a separate laboratory fee. Most clinics in Singapore quote skin tag removal by the number and size of the tags. At my practice the per-tag price and the unlimited price are the complete price list.

What happens during skin tag removal

Every growth is examined under the dermatoscope first. The examination takes seconds, and it is the step that separates a skin tag from a mole, a wart or the rare skin cancer that can resemble one, because a true tag is featureless under magnification. The tags are marked, the skin is cleaned, and a small amount of local anaesthetic is injected into the stalk. On the eyelid, anaesthetic drops are applied first.
Each tag is then snipped at the base with fine scissors or a blade, or the stalk is sealed with a fine cautery tip or the CO2 laser. A minute of pressure stops the small vessel in the stalk from bleeding, antibiotic ointment is applied, and that tag is complete. Several tags, or every tag on the face or neck, are removed in the same sitting.
Any growth that is not clearly a tag is removed by shave or excision instead and sent to the laboratory for histology, with the result back in 2 to 3 weeks.
Snip and electrocautery, the two skin tag removal methods I use most

A snip is the quickest way to remove a skin tag on a stalk. The tag is removed the moment it is cut, no stitches are needed because the base is narrow, and the mark heals flat. It is my method for most tags on the neck, armpit, groin and body.
Electrocautery uses a fine electrically heated tip to remove the tag and seal the tiny vessel in its base at the same time, so bleeding is minimal. I use it on the eyelid margin, where bleeding obscures the field, and on tags with a broad base, which bleed more than a stalked tag when snipped.
CO2 laser and cryotherapy for skin tag removal, when each one fits

The CO2 laser vaporises a tag layer by layer with very little bleeding, because the heat seals the vessels as it removes tissue. It is useful for flat or broad-based tags and for several small tags on the face, where a neat flat mark matters most. Laser skin tag removal is priced the same as the other methods.
Cryotherapy freezes the tag with liquid nitrogen so that it darkens and drops off over one to two weeks. It suits a few very small tags in a patient who prefers to avoid an injection. I use it selectively, because the tag is not removed on the day and because pigment cells are damaged at temperatures other skin cells survive, so freezing can leave a pale mark on darker skin.
Skin tag removal recovery and aftercare

A small scab forms and falls off in 7 to 10 days. The area is kept dry for the first day, the ointment is applied for a few days, and the scab is left to separate on its own, because picking it off exposes the healing base and deepens the mark. What remains is a pale pink mark that fades over a few weeks, slightly longer on darker skin. On the face, sunscreen on the mark prevents it darkening and helps it fade evenly.
No time off work is needed. Jewellery and collars can be worn again once the scab has gone. A review appointment is included, and any tag that needs a touch-up is treated then.
| After skin tag removal | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Small scab, keep dry, ointment |
| Days 2 to 10 | Scab falls off on its own |
| Weeks 2 to 6 | Pink mark fades, sunscreen on the face |
| Review | Included, any touch-up done then |
Skin tag removal on the eyelid, face and neck
Eyelid. Anaesthetic drops are applied, then the tag is removed by a fine snip or cautery that keeps clear of the lash line. Freezing is avoided on the lid because it can leave a pale mark.
Face. Every facial growth is examined under the dermatoscope first. A true tag is snipped or lasered flush with the skin. Unlimited facial tags are removed for one fee.
Neck. Crops of neck tags are snipped in one sitting for one fee, and the marks fade into the natural creases of the neck.
Armpit, groin and perianal tags are covered on my skin tags by body site page.
Who performs the skin tag removal
I remove skin tags myself and have done so since 2012, seeing 2 or 3 skin tag patients a week alongside mole patients, because a patient who attends about one growth usually has several. I trained in surgery before aesthetic medicine and hold the MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology. Every growth is examined under the dermatoscope before it is touched, and any growth in doubt is sent to the laboratory rather than discarded. More is on the about page.
Common questions about skin tag removal
How much does skin tag removal cost in Singapore?
Skin tag removal at my practice costs $150 per tag, or $1,600 for unlimited tags on the face or on the neck in one visit, all before GST. The consultation fee is separate.
Does skin tag removal hurt?
Skin tag removal causes a brief sting from the local anaesthetic injection, after which the removal itself is painless.
How many skin tags can be removed in one visit?
Every tag present can be removed in one visit. Unlimited tags on the face or the neck are removed in one sitting for one fee.
Will skin tag removal leave a scar?
Skin tag removal leaves a flat pale mark that fades over a few weeks. On the face it is usually invisible within a month or two.
Is skin tag removal covered by insurance or MediSave?
Skin tag removal is not covered by insurance or MediSave, because removing a skin tag is cosmetic. Where a growth is removed and sent to the laboratory on medical grounds, cover is assessed case by case.
Can a GP remove a skin tag?
Many GPs remove skin tags. The difference at my practice is that every growth is examined under the dermatoscope before removal, eyelid and facial tags are removed with a fine technique that protects the lash line and leaves a flat mark, and any growth in doubt is sent for histology.
Is laser skin tag removal better than snipping?
Laser is not better than snipping for most tags. A tag on a stalk is removed most cleanly with a snip, whereas laser suits flat or broad-based tags and small facial tags. The price is the same.
